Q:  Do I have to register online?

A:  Yes.  Registration is only available online.

Q:  After I register can I switch race distances?

A:  Yes, up to 30 days prior to an event, or until the event is sold out.  Please email sara@ramracing.org to make any changes.

Q:  Can I use my own ChampionChip?

A: No. The North Shore Half Marathon & 5K will be using the NEW B-Tag disposable timing system.

Q: What time is the race?

A: The Half Marathon start is at 7:00am. The 5K begins at 7:15am.

Q:  How old must I be to race?

A:  If you are between ages 14-17, you must have parental consent to participate in the half marathon. The 5K is open to all ages.

Q:  Where/When is Packet Pick-up?

  • A: Thursday June 9th 10:00am to 6:00pm at Running Away Multisport Deerfield
  • 800 Waukegan Rd
  • Friday June 10th 10:00am to 7:00pm at Running Away Multisport Deerfield
  • 800 Waukegan Rd

Q: My name is spelled wrong, age is wrong, etc.
A: No problem! You can go back into your RAM Racing account and update your personal information at any time.  Just log in to your account, click on “my races” and update info.

Q:  I registered and now I won’t be able to participate; can I still pick up my gear bag and goodies?
A: Yes, please stop by and pick up your bib and gear bag. No gear bags or medals will be mailed.

Q: I won’t be able to participate; can I transfer my registration to next year?
A: No, we are sorry but there are no transfers of registration to another person or until next year.

Q:I have a friend who would like to volunteer, can he help?
A: Yes, please email jennifer@ramracing.org for more information.

Q: Can a friend or family member pickup my packet?
A: Yes, just make sure they have your bib number and confirmation email.

Q: How do I find my bib number?

A: It is in your race confirmation page. You can always look up your confirmation page by logging back into your RAM Racing account.

Q: When should I arrive to the course on race day?

A: It is recommended that all athletes arrive to the vicinity at least 30 minutes before the race and to the start line at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the race.

Q: Are strollers, bicycles, or pets allowed on the course?

A: No strollers, bicycles or pets are allowed on the half marathon course, they are allowed on the 5K course.

Q: Are any ear buds or headphones allowed on the course?
A: No, on parts of the course athletes share the road with vehicles, your safety is our number one concern.

Q: Are walkers allowed on the course?

A: Yes, as long as they can keep pace with the 3 1\2 hour course closure.

Q: Is there packet pick-up on race day?
A: No.

Q: Can I register on race day?
A: No, there will be no race day registration available.

Q: Are there starting corrals at the North Shore Half Marathon?
A: No, it is a self-seeded start.

Q: Are there aid stations and port-o-potties along the course?
A: There are 8 aid stations with port-o-potties each on the course situated approximately every 1.5 miles.

Q: What will be served at the aid stations?
A: Water and Energy drink.

Q: How long do participants have to complete the course?
A: Athletes have 3 1\2 hours to complete the course, which is a 16:00 minute per mile pace.

Q: How do I get to the course by driving?
A: Please refer to Race Info page on the North Shore Half Marathon web site.

Q: Where should I park if I’m driving?
A: Please refer to Race Info page on the North Shore Half Marathon web site.

Q: What happens if I can’t finish the course?
A: There is a sag vehicle on the course that will pick you up and assist you. There is also medical assistance available if needed.

Q: Is the race fee refundable?
A: There are no refunds, transfers or reassignments to another individual.

Q: Who is eligible for medals and awards?
A: All North Shore Half Marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s medal.  There are also awards given to the top 3 finishers in each age division for both the half marathon and 5K.

Q: What do I receive after the race?
A: There will post race refreshments and food available at the post race party.

Q: Is there a course completion limit for the race?
A: Yes, RAM Racing provides full support for the 5K course for 1 hour, and supports the 1/2 Marathon course for 3 hours, 15 minutes.

Q: Are strollers allowed?
A: Yes, but only in the 5K.  We ask that you start near the end of the group out of consideration for other runners.

Q: Does a child riding in a stroller need to be registered?
A: No.

Q: Are dogs allowed?
A: No.

Q: Are bikes allowed?
A: No.
